One of my smartest purchases! : Philips PD7016/37 7-Inch Portable LCD Dual DVD Player
I ordered this because we travel to SC, Disney, and GA every summer from NJ - 2500 miles overall - with our 7-year-old and our 2-year-old. We had a single screen DVD player that broke on last year's trip and I needed to replace it before we leave this year. I searched and read reviews about many different products and decided on this one. I have tested these DVD players on two 1.5 hour trips so far and I am very pleased thus far! The first trip I was alone with both kids and didn't hear a peep from them for the first 45 minutes. My husband had them for the second trip and he experienced the same as I did. The DVD players are super easy to set up. To watch the same movie is as simple as connecting the two screens with a single cord and switching one device to "AV IN". My 7-year-old was able to make this switch 45 minutes into the trip when the 2-year-old decided he wanted to watch the same movie she was watching. Additonally, I was able to reach behind my headrest, open my son's player, take out the old movie and put a new movie in while at a stop sign. I did have to have my daughter press the PLAY button, however, as it is the ONLY button on the device that I cannot reach while in the driver's seat. Both kids have a set of headphones that they use, so I can listen to the car radio or CD while they watch. One nice feature is that I can bring the players into our camper and plug them into an outlet so that the kids can watch whatever movie they want while my husband watches ESPN on the regular TV! I am extremely pleased with this purchase so far and am excited to see how it eases this year's trip! If my opinion on these players changes after our trip, I will post an update....wish us luck!!
